The following annotated list of links to resources for help with addictions is provided by First Parish member, Jeff Roberts -- see Jeff's contact information below.

Alcoholics Anonymous Central Service of Eastern Massachusetts

The hot line is covered by volunteers in long term recovery who provide information about AA, including meeting information, and discuss concerns with callers. If a caller needs a ride to a meeting, volunteers have a list of AA members who have offered to provide rides. Meeting books are mailed free to those who request them.

The web site has meeting times and locations as well as general information for the 2200 meetings held each week in Eastern Massachusetts.

The above 12 Step Programs, and others such as Gamblers Anonymous

  • Use first names only, anonymity is always respected.
  • Do not have membership cards, membership lists (other than use first names), etc.
  • Are spiritual rather than conventionally religious. Some AA members are atheists and have as a "higher power" such things as the community spirit of the meetings, rather than a "being" of some sort.
  • Do not dictate anything to members, or have any requirements for membership other than a desire by the member to stop the addictive behavior.
