Dewdrops

Dew Drops
This quilt uses embellishments.  I made this at Ferry Beach "Quilting by the Bay".  The beading sparkles in the sunlight like morning dew.

Northern Woods

Northern Woods
This landscape combines a piecing technique I learned in a workshop taught by Sylvia Einstein with additional curved piecing and texture tips taught to me by my long-time quilting mentor Barbara Stroup.

Thai Treasures
This quilt has a nice First Parish connection as it was made to incorporate a piece  of woven Thai silk that Marie Raduazzo brought to me from Thailand.  This is the first time this quilt has been in a show!

Bright Askew (below)
This was inspired by the creativity of Ferry Beach "Quilting by the Bay".  I love the bright colors dancing on the background.

Ferry Beach Squared (below)
I started this quilt at quilting camp, Ferry Beach in August 2006.  The "Easy Overlay" pattern involves creating long strips of pieced fabric.  The pattern magically appears in the last steps.  The quilt is machine pieced "in the ditch".  I value the camaraderie I find with the quilters, here at First parish and at Ferry Beach.  I also feel a connection with my two grandmothers, who loved to quilt

Help from Grandma
I made this quilt with rainbow patches in the front and black and white patches on the back.  I call this quilt "With Help from Grandma" because as you might of guessed, this quilt was made with help from my grandmother.  I did most of the machine sewing myself on her sewing machine.

Pieces of my Past

Pieces from My Past
When my mother died, I found many small velvets that she had painted over the years.  She was a teacher who painted prolifically as a hobby.  I found jewelry and hankies that my grandmother collected on her trips to Germany.  She was a governess who immigrated to this country and found a better life.  I also found doilies that Martha had made for my grandmother.  She had cared for my grand mother hand taught me how to sew and iron.  I put them together in this quilt to remember pieces from my past.
Peggy Gardiner, 2008

Tumbling Blocks
A challenging pattern that I want to do again someday with really good fabric. This one was to try it out so I used scraps. You may discover the other pattern hidden among the blocks if you look carefully.
