Art Wall Quilt Exhibit, Winter 2010 — The
Wise Women Quilters
|
The Wise
Women meet two Wednesday
evenings a month to design and create the annual First Parish Raffle Quilt. This
exhibit showcases some of our individual projects. For more information
about The Wise Women, please contact any of the exhibitors or Wendy Page.
To the right: Springtime Gloaming
This piece is constructed using a fusing technique developed by Laura

Completed at a workshop with laura, we all had a great day of fun and
humor.

Webs: In honoring nature's weavers,
I used up a decade's worth of scraps, including some lace collars I

Blue Fantasy: Ocean waves
or planets swirling. I love the colors with the energy and calm at the
same time.

Autumn Equinox: This quilt is a
two color study, constructed using templates. The piece contains some
fabric that I dyed at the 2009 Ferry Beach Quilting By the Bay Conference.

Flora
I began this quilt at Ferry Beach quilting camp in 2007, using
the
"one block wonder" pattern. Starting with one large swatch
of fabric, we carefully cut matching triangles and sewed them into
hexagons. I thank Wendy Page for trudging through a blizzard to
help me rescue what I was ready to discard. Our teacher, Barbara
Stroup, free hand quilted the piece with her long-arm quilting machine.
Quilting with friends is a blessing!
