Resignation and Post-Employment
To provide for a smooth transition, employees are requested to give at least one month’s notice to their supervisor. Upon departure, the employee will be compensated only for unused vacation days earned in the current church year.
An employee who is let go because of a lay-off, reorganization of work, or performance that does not meet job standards shall be given a severance package of 1 week’s salary for every completed year of service, up to a maximum payment of 6 months’ salary. Any employee who resigns or is terminated for cause shall not receive a severance package. First Parish reserves the right to change this policy with or without notice.
Unemployment insurance - lack of coverage
Employees of religious institutions are NOT eligible for Massachusetts Unemployment Insurance, in accordance with Section Six of the Massachusetts Employment Security Law.
