A Hotline for Israel/Palestine: Rev. Marta Morris Flanagan interviews Shira Hoffer
September 15, 2024 – after service, 12:00 noon, in the sanctuary and on Zoom
Join The Alliance for the first program of its inspirational and thought-provoking new season. This promises to be an engaging conversation between Rev. Marta and Shira Hoffer, a remarkable Harvard undergraduate who in response to the horrific Hamas attack on Israel, October 7, 2023, founded the Hotline for Israel/Palestine. This text-based hotline provides her fellow students and others a place where they can safely pose difficult questions without being labeled antisemitic or Islamophobic. The text-based hotline provides well-researched and curated resources about the historical, cultural, political, and religious viewpoints underlying the long conflict between these two countries and their inhabitants.
In 2024 Shira expanded her outreach by founding the Institute for Multipartisan Education, a charitable organization dedicated to “increasing and improving [the] capacity for curious approaches to difference and disagreement in educational settings.”
