Fall Greetings from Tina Schultz, Director of Religious Education
Members of the Religious Education and I have been meeting over the summer to *try* to make some plans for start-up this fall. As you know, events change on a daily basis so we are doing our best to stay flexible and creative.
The Religious Education Committee meets for the first time this fall on Thursday evening. At that time we will review some exciting new curriculum based on “Soul Matters” materials. These thematic lessons will tie in with what’s being discussed in adult worship and First Parish small groups during the month. We are especially pleased that many of these lessons will include a special anti-racism focus, geared for multiple ages, based on developmentally appropriate stories, current event topics and discussion questions. They also look inspirational and fun!
We will also be finalizing a parent survey, which will be sent to all families in our database during the first weeks of September. We want to learn more from YOU about your children, family participation, interests, and ways to stay connected during these tough times.
Families should keep an eye out for emails being sent to you by your child’s grade. If you have not registered your child please reach out directly to Tina@firstparish.info so I am sure that you will be included in our email blasts.
Parents of our OWL, Coming of Age, and Youth Group will be learning more about these special programs as I talk more with the teachers, mentors and adult advisors and consult with Rose Sawyer Marsh, our Youth Group Coordinator.
I miss seeing your faces and being on the receiving end of your hugs. Until then, I wish you all the very best. Please stay safe and healthy.
