Love Your Menses was founded in 2019 in response to the growing menstrual wellness needs of young people. Their mission is to promote menstrual equity and build the next generation of leaders by providing an educational, uplifting, and supportive space for Black and Brown girls and gender-expansive youth, women, and all people who menstruate to learn about the menstrual cycle and create equitable public health solutions.
“We believe all girls, women, and people who menstruate deserve a safe, brave, and uplifting space to learn about their bodies and have equitable access to the resources they need for their reproductive health and wellness. We do this work through community conversations, evidence-based menstrual health education, youth programming, resource connection, and mentorship.“
Since its inception, Love Your Menses has expanded globally to Liberia, Nigeria, The Gambia, Haiti, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Kenya. They are committed to uplifting community voices and equipping local leaders with equitable resources to promote and sustain menstrual equity in their communities. Their global menstrual equity work is rooted in cultural competency, health education, research, and mentorship.
During the summer month’s Love Your Menses and Planned Parenthood of Sioux Falls will split the Giving First.
