Rose of Recognition March 2025
The Parish Committee commends and thanks Alan Linov for his dedication and leadership of the Social Justice Committee, extending a Rose of Recognition to Alan for his many years of service in this capacity. Knowing (and agreeing) that Alan would highlight this work as a group effort, the Parcom gratefully acknowledges all members of SJC who have worked with Alan over the years. Showers of rose petals to you all!
Under Alan’s leadership, social justice has been an integral and growing part of First Parish’s ministry and identity. Additional social justice topics and working groups have emerged in response to current needs, and new leaders have stepped forward. As one example, First Parish’s deepening involvement with UU Mass Action can be credited to Alan’s initiative. After many years of skillful leadership, Alan Linov is stepping down as the Chair of the Social Justice Committee, leaving these initiatives in good hands.
Alan offers wise counsel to his fellow social justice organizers at First Parish. He maintains an awareness of what is happening in our world, near and far, while staying in touch with the congregation’s growing passions for justice. At the core of Alan’s commitment is a deep sense of compassion. He truly lives his faith and inspires us all to do the same.
